For Youths Grades 7 through 12
Cass Day Camp for 4 through 6 graders
Spend one week this summer, June the 22nd through June the 26th, learning about music history, various genres of music {gospel, classical and jazz}. Learn to read and interpret music, compose your own music and perform the music studied throughout the week. Classes will be taught by college professors.
There will be four evening concerts open to the public during Camp Week.
Tuesday night we will present Grammy Award winning bassist extraordinaire Douglas Richeson and the superb guitarist Tim Cummiskey. Douglas has toured and recorded with such artists as Tony Bennett, Phil Collins, Jack Jones, Quincy Jones and Gerry Mulligan, among others. He has recorded on Grammy Award winning recordings with Tony Bennett. Douglas is currently freelancing internationally and teaching Bass at Denison University. Tim is a Central Ohio guitarist and educator and performs as a leader and sideman throughout the Midwest. Tim currently leads several groups ranging from solo jazz guitar and classical guitar to larger group configurations. Tim currently serves as a member of the jazz studies faculty of The Ohio State University School of Music and has served on the music faculty of Kenyon College for 7 years.
Wednesday night is Gospel Night with the First United Pentecostal Church Choir. They will present their puppet, signing and church programs!
Thursday night will be Classical Night as we present the classical trio "Alato." Please join us for these wonderful, free concerts! All concerts begin at 8 p.m.
Friday night will be the grand finale! Our three student ensembles will each perform. This has always been a high point to our week!! Please join us for this wonderful event.
Camp Departments include strings, band instruments, vocals, keyboard and music industry. We will be adding an interpretive singing class this year as well. Also, two private lessons per camper has been added as an additional feature!
Camp Tuition: $170.00 per student. Late, on-site registration: $180 (after May 30). There are full and partial scholarships available. Late registration and sign-in will be Sunday the 8th of June at 6:30 p.m. and Monday the 9th of June from 8:00-9:00 a.m.. This an over-nite camp with all meals provided!
