Cassandra McDonald is an award winning vocal soloist, concert artist, captivating teacher, composer and is also an accomplished pianist. As a rich mezzo-soprano Cassandra's music covers a wide spectrum, including Creative Kids' Concerts, Operatic Classical Repertoire, Inspirational Spirituals and Hand-Clapping Gospel Music.

Mrs. McDonald has been guest conductor throughout the Midwest. She has performed with the Southeastern Ohio Symphony on several occasions, including an original composition which she also orchestrated, "Let the Peace of God Abide in Me."

Cassandra's One Woman Program "The Spiritual: From the Plantation to Classical Orchestration" is a riveting look at the history and culture of this authentic American folk medium, and is especially geared towards children. From small classrooms to large assemblies, students become performers during these presentations.

Cassandra was awarded the "Outstanding Soloist of 1992" by the Charles Watkins International Pentecostal Assemblies of the World." She is also the recipient of the 1997 "Business Woman of the Year" Award for C.A.S.S. Productions. In 2002 Cassandra was the first vocalist to receive the Vocal Net Ovation Award for Outstanding Soloist.

Cassandra attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit and then earned a Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Michigan. Mrs. McDonald has also studied at Bowling Green University, Wayne State University in Detroit and the Interlocken National SUmmer Camp. Cassandra received her Masters of Art in Education at Muskingum College and currently teaches voice there. She is also a Heartland of America and an Ohio Arts fee support artist.

Mrs. McDonald is married to the Rev. Nathan McDonald and they have five children, Leah, Nathan, Joseph, Benjamin and Michah. All five have musical backgrounds. The first three having finished their college degrees with majors in music and the other two are sure to follow suit.
